Calling all Patterned Tile Lovers! This Bath Reno will Steal Your Heart

Bathroom renovations can completely transform a home and if you're going to give it an overhaul you might as well make it the most relaxing, gorgeous light filled space ever in existence. That was goal #1 for Jen's bath and #2 was adding a bit of pattern. The result is stunning and perfect for the person who might be a wee bit afraid of #2. Those stunning cement tiles will make a believer out of you.

When my husband and I started renovating our 50's cottage last year, the bathroom to be honest, was not very high on our to do list. But after a series of unfortunate events that began with updating the leaky galvanized plumbing to ripping out the dated built-in vanity and rotten floorboards, we found ourselves with a completely gutted bathroom.

For a while, we'd stare at this literal hole in the house that looked like a bunch of random 2x4's with pipes sticking out here and there, bearing no resemblance to a bathroom whatsoever, and wonder what we had gotten ourselves into. With the help of an amazing contractor, however, we were put at ease as all the pieces slowly fell into place.

We wanted the bathroom to be low maintenance and practical yet fresh and relaxing. The door leading out to the dog run and backyard made the space ideal for freshening up after an afternoon of gardening or playing with the pup, and also let in a ton of natural light.

We finished the room with a coat of bright white paint and contrasted the starkness of the walls with brass and wooden accents as well as a show-stopping cement tile pattern for the floors. To say that I love the floors would be an understatement and while I am not one to be so bold with pattern typically, it has become one of my favorite design details in the entire house.
