In his West Hollywood house, designer Mark D. Sikes achieved the perfect summery vibe.

To create a light, airy feel in the entry of his West Hollywood house, visual merchandiser Mark D. Sikes painted the walls New Linen by Kelly-Moore and whitewashed the floors. For a dramatic "Dorothy Draper moment," he used Benjamin Moore's high-gloss Black on the door.

The living room is a chic mix of old and new, casual and formal. The neutral palette showcases an antique chinoiserie armoire and a gilt console. "I wanted them to stand out, and everything else to be part of the background," Sikes says. Ralph Lauren Home Antibes chairs mingle with a Billy Baldwin slipper chair from HB Home and an Ansley chair by Suzanne Kasler for Hickory Chair.

The dining room is a pleasing combination of glamour and informality. The Gracie Chinoiserie wallpaper, a Venetian mirror from John Rosselli, and a Visual Comfort chandelier strike a "grand" note, Sikes says, but he tamed it with the country charm of Rogers & Goffigon's Manchester gingham on the Cabriole chairs and the rustic parchment finish of the Linwood armchairs. Both sets of chairs, and the Christiansen dining table, are from Hickory Chair.

"I knocked off Christopher Peacock," Sikes says of the traditional white-on-white kitchen with East Coast–flavored bead board. Grosvenor pendants from Visual Comfort hang above counters topped with Carrara marble. Canvas director chairs from Williams-Sonoma Home.

Sikes and Griffin designed the hanging canopy for the Hickory Chair Candler bed in their Billy Baldwin–inspired British Colonial guest room. "We wanted one room to be dark and moody," Sikes says, "so we painted the guest room dark brown. But with all the ivory tones, it ended up as light and airy as the rest of the house." Walls are painted Starry Night by Ralph Lauren. Irish tufted chaise from George Smith.

"This little black lacquered box of a guest bath is everyone's favorite room," Sikes says. "Very dramatic and sexy." A Regency ebony-and-bone mirror is propped above a Gramercy Single Metal sink from Restoration Hardware. Bead board and trim are painted Benjamin Moore's high-gloss Black.

"When the living room doors are open to the terrace, it feels like one large living space," Sikes says. "I think the most beautiful thing will be when the creeping fig covers the walls of the house and garden." An antique stone table from Inner Gardens anchors Catalina outdoor furniture from Restoration Hardware. A black-and- white awning lends "Hollywood Regency chic."
