Style Guide - “Luxury Living”

When style meets opulence every decor in the room is a testament to a luxurious lifestyle. Isn’t it worth it to experience even a small version of this luxury in our daily lives? No matter the budget, a lavish lifestyle can be achieved at home — we’ve teamed up with The Sofa & Chair Company to share our tips on “Luxury Living”.

Furniture

Most of the furniture pieces in luxury spaces draw influence from Italian and French designs, which are specifically made for high-end glamour and luxury. Chaise lounges, ornate cabinets, and glass-top tables are great places to start when thinking and choosing pieces for your space. Opt for high-gloss woods, mirrored and fabric-clad styles for a luxe look, and then finish with handcrafted pieces with chrome or gold details.

* Extra Pro Tip: Be sure there is plenty of seating and, if possible, arrange all the furniture so those seated in the living room will have a clear view of each other and the entertainment center - if one exists.

Texture & Colour

A layered, cohesive mix of materials and textures will give your space a custom-designed, luxurious look. Mix metals, glass, wood, and a variety of textiles to create an instant feeling of luxury. Applying a tone-on-tone palette that uses only neutrals gives the room a soft and sophisticated look. You might also try an elegant palette of deep emeralds and rich warm reds.

Layering & Accessories

When it comes to adding the final touches, it doesn’t have to cost a arm and leg. You can create a designer look by layering a few highly textures pieces like velvet pillows and faux fur throws, and small wall mirrors used as a mirrored trays with a few decorative items on top. Creating focal points with larger decorative pieces such as a sculpture or a big vase is also a great way to achieve a permanent wow-factor.

Top Tips On Choosing A Fabric Bedhead

A mattress without a bedhead is a bit like an outfit without shoes, sure it might work in certain casual situations, but if you’re looking to add some sophistication or personality to your bedroom a bedhead is a must. As the crown of the beds king or queen, choosing the right style, shape and colour can be an overwhelming task, so with the help of Brosa we’re here to make it as easy as possible by sharing our top tips on choosing the right bedhead for you.

Colour: Consider the balance of the space when picking a colour for your bedhead. We’re seeing a gradual move towards stronger colour, think deep jewel tones such as navy and emerald green, as well as softer tones like blush pinks. You can never, however, go wrong opting for a neutral grey and beige as it allows more choice for bed covers, cushions, throws and décor accessories.

Size: Size always makes an impact in interior design. When choosing the size of your headboard measure the width of your bed to make sure the bedhead fits, but it also pays to take into account the scale of your room and the height of your ceilings. An oversized headboard could easily dominate a room and overpower the other design elements. A small headboard, on the other hand, will defeat its purpose as a backrest or feature. Mark out the measurements of your chosen style and tape them onto your wall to gauge the size.

Shape & Style: Traditional shapes including peaked, beveled and stepped bed heads tend to look masculine, while arched and scalloped styles are more feminine in appearance. In fact, the simplest shapes often make the biggest impact, so never underestimate the power of an effortless rectangular design.
